Electronic Payments & Statements

With Electronic Payments & Statements (EPS), you can use a single tool to receive electronic funds transfer (EFT) and electronic remittance advice (ERA) for most UnitedHealthcare health plans. By enrolling in EPS, you’ll receive claims payments by direct deposit or virtual card payment (VCP) and can access your explanations of benefits (EOBs)/remittance advices online or via 835 ERA files. There’s no need to have practice management software or technical expertise to use EPS.

How EPS Works

EPS is administered by Optum, a company that specializes in providing health care financial information, tools and solutions.

  • Claim payments are deposited directly into your designated bank account or you can process a virtual card payment, up to five to seven days faster than the paper payment process.
    • With direct deposit, you have the option to split routing of payments and remittance advices by the National Provider Identifier (NPI) number and/or payer.
  • You receive email notification of payments.
    • Multiple users can receive notifications.
    • Users can be assigned different access levels.
  • You can view your information online, or receive 835 ERA files from your clearinghouse/vendor.
    • View remittance advices for the last 30, 60 or 90 days or use advanced search options.
    • Save PDF remittance advice files to your computer rather than printing and filing copies. You can print individually or in bulk.
